The Return of the Legend: Ballhooter Music Festival 2026
Labor Day Weekend at Snowshoe is about to get much more remarkable! This September, we are witnessing the birth—or rather, the exciting return—of a mountain legend. The Ballhooter Music Festival is back, and it is trading its winter coat for the vibrant greens and cool breezes of Cheat Mountain.
What is the Ballhooter Music Festival?
For many long-time Snowshoe fans, the name “Ballhooter” brings back fond memories of a beloved winter tradition. Previously an end of winter-season concert, it disappeared from the Snowshoe event calendar 6 years ago! This year, from September 4-7, 2026, the resort is bringing that same mountaintop magic to a brand-new summer stage. We are talking about three full days of live music, mountain activities, and that electric energy that makes the mountain an even better destination for your late summer getaway than ever before!
A Heavyweight Lineup
The 2026 inaugural summer lineup is nothing short of spectacular, featuring headliners who know exactly how to turn high elevation into high energy:
- Turnpike Troubadours: Known for their signature Red Dirt sound, they bring storytelling lyrics and driving, fiddle-led rhythms that were built for a mountain stage.
- 49 Winchester: Bringing a gritty blend of Southern rock and country soul straight from Appalachia, their high-energy live show is a perfect fit for our rugged terrain.
- Morgan Wade: Her raw, deeply personal songwriting and country grit deliver an emotional depth that hits even harder in the heart of the mountains.
- Many other Artists: Lindsay Lou, Big Daddy Love, American Aquarium, Corduroy Brown, The Record Company, The Gasoline Gypsies, and more not listed.
The festival is set to feature three stages across the resort, ensuring that live music is always just a few steps away. Whether you are watching an open-air performance with sweeping mountain views or catching a set in the Village, the atmosphere is designed to be immersive. Village properties with decks facing the stage will be able to enjoy the festival from their own unit!
