Great location to The Village. The Waffle Cabin and coffee shop are right out the back door. Amazing view from the back patio. Very responsive communication and very helpful. Had a great weekend!
Tim was such a great host. He shared lots of helpful information and you just can’t beat this location!
room was perfect for us. had indoor playground and arcade for kids right there. Close proximity to village and lift.
On the far end of building from slopes and Wi-Fi was a little spotty, but still a good value
We had a great stay at Tim's place Mountain Lodge Rm 188. The room was comfortable and had what was needed. We were able to cook spaghetti in the kitchen the first night. The Mountain Lodge was in good shape, guest were courteous and quiet, and access to both the slopes and the village was easy. We would stay here again.
Tim was very quick to respond and provide all the necessary information for our last minute booking! Wonderful location, convenient for skiing and amazing views!
Awesome place! Great location and Tim was quick to respond if I had any questions/ concerns
Tim was absolutely great! He was quick to respond to any questions we had. He was also very helpful when we requested to stay an additional night.
Beautiful view and easy check in. Very clean and comfortable!! Had a lovely time. Thanks for having us.
We booked this last minute. Tim was wonderful with getting back to us ASAP to to make sure we was taken care of. Perfect location and views was beautiful! Thank you Tim!
Tim's place was the perfect spot for our long weekend ski trip! The location could not have been better and his communication was quick. He was very accommodating and made every effort to help us. Thank you Tim!
Basic, quiet and clean
The property was clean and was a true ski-in/ski-out experience with the top of one of the main lifts being about 100 ft from the lodge. It was a cozy place that was conveniently close to the slopes and the village. I stayed here with 3 other friends and we were comfortable. I have few gripes with the place other than it was hot and the wifi did not work very well. I also feel that Mr. Wolfe was an excellent host and cared about how our experience was.
Easy arrangements and check in. Beautiful view. Nice room with easy access. We enjoyed our stay!
Snowshoe is a beautiful resort, but expensive to book through. Using VRBO helped us find some savings when booking at the Mountain Lodge (although I still feel we overpaid for the age of the property). Overall, all of our needs were met. Check in was very easy. And Tim was quick to respond and easy to communicate with. We will be booking with Tim again if we ever return to Snowshoe!
This is a great place to stay near the Village. Clean, well stocked. AC, wifi. We enjoyed it.
This Room was the perfect location for us. We all had a great time this weekend. Very nice room.
The condo is in a great location. We were able to walk or ski to everything we wanted to do at Snowshoe. The condo was clean and well maintained. We had a great experience.
We had a great time here. The room was cozy and very reasonable considering how close it was to the ski slopes
Great older property very close to the village and split rock pools with free parking!
Everything was perfect. We will be back.
Staff was great. Room was clean and very nice.
This is our second trip to Snowshoe. We loved Tim's rental, it was just perfect for my husband and myself. If you have a small family, it would be good too as there is a pull out couch! It is very quiet as unit is near end of the building and the view off the balcony was amazing. If you come off season as we did, be sure you grab grocery items before arriving if you plan to cook in the unit as there are no places to shop. The village is only open weekends off peak and closed for the season October 15th. The Foxfire Grill near the condo was really good! Hope to rent again from Tim when we return. The only negative it figuring out the TV with streaming or movies....need instructions for us Baby Boomers that technology challenged 🙂 Thanks Tim.......we appreciated your hospitality!!
The unit had everything we needed. Full kitchen and all utensils. Very central and with beutiful view.
Definitely served its purpose. Ac wasn't the best but weather was cool on the mountains.
Definitely will book again
Let me start by saying that I already miss this place! The room was exactly as described. Clean and well stocked with everything you need for a great stay on the mountain. Enjoyed the wifi in the room, something new to Snowshoe. Unlimited free U.S. calls made it easy to keep in touch with family back home. Plenty of premium TV channels as well as access to Netflix and a new Playstation with plenty of games for the kids. The sofa bed was comfortable and the luggage rack in the bedroom closet helped avoid clutter in the room. A coat rack with a place for ski's in the hallway was an added bonus.
This unit is on the far end of the hotel and a great walking distance from the ski out location, but I didn't deduct on the rating because you can rent a locker fairly cheap to store equipment near the slopes and the location also has it's benefits. The Mountain Lodge is generally more quiet on the far end of the hotel and the mountain views are spectacular. You are actually looking at mountain tops from your private balcony verses a ski lift. It's also just a short walk across the parking lot to Split Rock pools where you'll find heated indoor/outdoor pools and hot tubs, as well as a dry sauna. There is a $15 per person/per day fee to access the pool, so I suggest you pay when they first open (usually around 11 a.m.) so that you'll have access until closing, which is generally 9 p.m. Very small children are free and they don't generally charge for parents who are merely observing. Another benefit to this location is that it is steps away from a walk out location to the parking lot, making loading and unloading a breeze.
We have been visitng Snowshoe Mountain each March for the past 20 years and absolutely love this resort. Sure there are pros and cons but overall the resort does a good job, especially where it counts. A few years ago I hit a large mogul going down the Ballhooter and had a pretty bad fall. Ski patrol was by my side before I could even gather my bearings and realize what happened. I was without injury, but it was nice to know they are quick to respond when needed.
We have rented through Mr. Wolfe numerous times and have never been disappointed. The room rates are reasonable and fair and he is easy to work with. He is professional and courteous and returns calls and emails promptly. We have also stayed in ML#142 and enjoyed that room/location as well. Mr. Wolfe is first class and I would 100% recommend renting through him!
Enjoyed our stay here nice and quiet place to stay. Hope too come back soon.
Our family of four really enjoyed our stay here, children are 9 and 7 years old. Plenty of room, nicely equipped kitchen, and a good location to ski lifts and the village. Skiers of all skill levels can find an appropriate way down from this ski in/ski out location on the mountain, just grab Ballhooter lift back to the lodge by 4:30pm. Our children enjoyed the video game room and playground equipment during our time off the slopes. This is also a convenient area to pick up your pre purchased lift tickets from The Depot in the village. Shuttles to Silver Creek (night skiing option for us) was also convenient.
Our family night skied, dined out, shopped, day skied, and caught shuttles all from this area around the lodge. We literally did not get in our car for over 5 days. Really good location on the mountain. I will stay here again.
We had a blast and enjoyed the trip. Prpoerty was all we needed.
Tim’s condo was well maintained, clean and found to be as stated in the description. The kitchen was well equipped for preparing meals if you so choose. I especially appreciated to room darkening curtains in the bedroom. The hallways always have lights on and being able to have the bedroom dark to sleep in was a plus for me.
Tim answered questions promptly and was very professional to deal with.
Clean, well located and very affordable! We had a great stay! At the far end away from the village, it was very quiet too!
Went for a early season, traditional guys trip. The condo was just as described. Comfortable and had everything we needed. Definitely would stay again.
Everything was as expected and the price was reasonable. I would stay here again.
Great view from the window, building right next to the trails. Tim's always quick to respond, and was very flexible when I had a change of plans. Mountain Lodge isn't the most luxurious building at the resort, but it should suit most people's needs. I'd definitely stay here again!
Very convenient location @ Snowshoe without paying big bucks. This unit is at the end of the building, so it was very quiet during the summer, no idea of what winter brings with the clip-clop of ski boots. For the summer, we were able to park near our entrance, and never saw a sole. Very private.
The unit is comfortable, very clean, had all we needed to enjoy our visit. Nice selection of TV apps if you need it. Our view overlooked the surrounding mountains and watching the morning or evening fog/mist move in and out made you realize how dynamic the mountain life is.
Great location walking to the newest village, literally minutes away. For the summer time, Snowshoe has so many activities on the property. Within 30 minutes from the top of the mountain, we were able to ride the train over at Cass, visit Green Bank, ride bikes on the Greenbrier River Trail, play golf, and more. Our week flew by.
Rating 4 stars is more of the overall rating of the Mountain Lodge as it is not a new facility, so I don't think of it as a 5 star property. That doesn't mean you won't have a 5 star vacation!
The property manager Tim, was very helpful and accomodating, thanks. He was extremely responsive regarding questions and information. No surprises, we were very comfortable in the room.
Very clean, reasonable price. Great access to slopes, shopping, and dining. We will definitely go back.
Stayed with a couple of my buddies during the week. The mountain was not busy, and lots of fresh powder fell while we were there. The unit had comfortable beds, a nice balcony, and a great kitchen for cooking meals. Loved the location, right next to the ballhooter lift which made it prime real estate. Would definitely stay here again!
I was not impressed at all with the condo or Snowshoe. I have done a lot of skiing in my lifetime in New York, PA, Colorado, and more. For $400.00 a night I thought the condo would be a little nicer. It was just ok. In the condo you could not turn the heat down. The dishwasher was full of dishes clean but full. The slopes shut down at 4:30 & then you have to take a shuttle to a bus to night ski until 9:00. The village shuts down at 9:00 as well. The bus for the condo drops you off at the end of the parking lot to Mountain Lodge. The amount of time wasted walking to buses, taking shuttles to the bus, etc. is ridiculous. For the amount of money I spent I expected more. I will not visit Snowshoe again.
This unit has recently been tastefully updated and is very nice. In my opinion it needs a new mattress but i'm extremely picky when it comes to that piece of furniture. Unit 188 is about as far as you can get from slope access which means peace and quiet! I thought internet would be an issue but the owner has that well covered. Plus...smart tv in living room for those nights ya just wanna stay inside. Overall stay was enjoyable. Thanks!
(Maybe we'll have better snow next time)
We stayed at Condo #188 in the Mountain Lodge at Snowshoe. The condo was as advertised with an excellent ski out location right next to a lift, good view from balcony, good wifi connection, and was clean and properly equipped. Tim provided good information, responded promptly to questions, and worked with us on dates when we had to unexpectedly change weekends. The Mountain Lodge itself has seen better days and is an old structure clearly in need of some renovation. Snowshoe has no cell phone connectivity so if you want to stay in touch with kids while skiing you need to make sure you bring portable radios for communication as mobile phones will not work. There also are a limited number of restaurants in the village and so if you are going to eat out, particularly on a weekend night, you need to plan for a 60-90 minute wait. The pool and hot tubs are not part of Mountain Lodge and require a separate payment of $15 per day per person for use.
Stayed only one night, but truly enjoyed our time there! Room was very clean and well maintained. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Tim is very easy to work with. We stayed at 188 and it was very nice. The place was very clean and convenient to the lifts and to the Village. Folks were very friendly at the Mountain Lodge. Would definitely stay there again.
Overall had a great weekend. We were in 188 and it was great overall. The place was extremely clean and the condo was up to date. We with the weather had been better for skiing. That being said, glad we had a great place to be.
Very nice accommodations, all staff members were polite and knowledgable. Tim was very responsive and answered all our questions.
I went back for a second weekend. Will likely be back. Great experiences with Tim every time.
Perfect location, room was spacious, kitchen amenities were helpful, room wifi was nice upgrade
Perfect Condo. Every detail taken care for you. Perfect location. Beautiful view of the mountain. Plus a ski-out. Parking very convenient and the Mountain Lodge itself has lots to offer. Enjoy!
Condo was great, fully stocked and clean, easy and convenient check in/out.
Condo was perfect for our first trip to Snowshoe. Very convenient first floor and walk out to slopes. Clean, well appointed, and close to everything! Owner provides great info and communicates quickly if you have a question. logistics checking in and out went very smoothly.
Thanks Tim, we'll be back again!
Very nice condo, lots of nice touches - drip pan for skis and boots, different temp controls for the bedroom and den (I need the temperature about 65 to sleep, my college age daughter seems to need it about 80)... very neat and clean, can't tell you much about the cooking stuff, but it had a bottle opener. Worst feature - a bit of a walk to the "lift exit", rent a locker down there. Best feature - Smokin' fast internet! Don't use that "MtLodge" stuff - look for ML188, and watch whatever Netflix you want!
I stayed in ML188 during the month of June and was beyond pleased! The views of the mountains from the porch were amazing and watching the sunrise was absolutely beautiful! The condo was cozy, clean and had everything I needed for my 3 night stay. The thermostats are not adjustable so it did get a bit stuffy at night but I turned on the ceiling fan and was good to go. Would definitely stay again, very easy to book and check in/out of the Lodge.
For a first timer at Snowshoe I was very pleased with my stay at the Mountain Lodge. Upon arrival the attendant working the front gate was very friendly and very helpful with providing general information about the area. Check in was very easy and with the room being on the far end of the building, unloading and loading was rather easy. As others have said, there is a very nice view looking off of the balcony. I'm sure that during the Fall season it would be absolutely beautiful! The unit was very clean and stocked well with dishes and everything else that was needed. Room also and a Play Station 2 with some DVDs and games if you were to be in the room killing some time. As someone stated in a previous review, the unit does get somewhat hotter than what the thermostat is set for. The lodge is set closely to the Ballhooter lift which makes it very convenient if you need to run in to the room for anything. It's also a quick walk over the Village. Overall our experience was very good and I would definitely recommend this unit to anyone looking to get away for a weekend. Tim seems very nice and his email with instructions are very informational as well as humorous!
My daughter and I had a great experience in this condo that was in great condition with free U.S. phone and wi-fi service. Being on the end of the bldg you get very little foot traffic and lobby noise as well as no nitetime grooming machines doing there most important work, making for a great nites rest. The condo has an excellent view that is a real bonus. Close to the door makes loading a snap. The owner offers a military/veternans discount and is great to work with. ml188 is by far the best mt lodge stay that i've had in 12 years.
For winter skiing and snowboarding, or summer mountain activities, this location is great. You walk out of one of the lodge doors facing the mountain, and you are at the top of several ski runs. The Ballhooter lift takes you back up the mountain to this same spot.
The condo itself is very comfortable for a couple or a family with young children. The bedroom sleeps two, and the fold-out sofa in the living room would be good for young children. The unit was easily warm enough in the winter. We actually cracked the living room window a few times to cool off the place. The heated hallways in the building can heat up the unit above the temperature you set for the unit's thermostats. The window in the bedroom opens to the common hallway, not outside. This unit seemed to be in a quiet area of the lodge. In fact, the entire lodge seemed to respect quiet hours. So hallway noise was not a problem during our stay.
The kitchen is stocked with all the things you would need. I suggest bringing plastic wrap, aluminum foil, and tupperware if you plan to do a lot of cooking while you're there. Also, we brought groceries with us. There aren't good options for grocery shopping on the mountain, and they are probably very expensive compared to a regular supermarket. Some of the paper products you'll need (paper towels, tissues, bathroom paper) are supplied and are restocked. They provide detergent for the dishwasher, but it would have been nice to have some regular dish soap to wash some things by hand, like pots and pans, or to wash a few items in between running the dishwasher.
We brought some laundry soap in case we wanted to wash some clothes while there, but there was no washer/dryer in the unit. Maybe they had coin machines in the building somewhere, but we didn't see them.
The lodge itself has an arcade area, play area for small kids, some exercise equipment, and a large lobby with a big wood burning fireplace.
Overall this was a great find for ski in/ski out, and it was a very good value.
This condo was very clean and comfortable for 4 adults. The location is very convenient with the slopes right out the back door and The Village a minute walk away. We had everything we needed in the kitchen and the pull out had a comfortable memory foam mattress. Tim was so accommodating and easy to work with. We would stay here again any time!
Being just a one bedroom condo, the unit was fine for my family of four for three nights. The internet in the unit was great as was the internet from the Mountain Lodge itself. This unit is toward the far end of the lodge from the slope, and it was quiet while we were there. Occasionally, we had to crack the window to cool off in there as the heat from the rest of the lodge had this unit up to 80 degrees in the evening with the temps outside in the single digits. As others have stated, there are plenty of good books, movies and games to read, watch and play when not on the slopes.
If you have never been to Snowshoe, it is probably one of if not the best ski resorts in the eastern US, and the Mountain Lodge is a great place to stay for the money
Very nice, clean condo. Perfect for my family of three. Great location for getting on the slopes quick. Very convenient to all the Snowshoe resort shops and restaurants.
Great location right in the village and very close to everything. Both Tim and mountain lodge staff were friendly and easy to work with. Condo was well stocked with kitchen utensils, bedding, even movies, games and books.
Great location! Condo is clean and in good condition, beautiful mountain view! We would stay in this condo nex time again. I recommend it!
ML188 is a great condo with super fast internet and a fully stocked kitchen to help keep the bellies full while taking a break from snowboarding/skiing. Only thing you need to bring for the room, besides your own food, is dish soap, and sponge. There is a dishwasher. Also, there is a dvd/vcr, so if you are room bound, bring some movies too. Tim has always been very accommodating for our needs (ie, last minute changes on rooms) and the staff at the Lodge have been helpful too. The Lodge itself is nice and warm and located right off the Ballhooter ski lift which is so convenient! We love Snowshoe and all the fun runs available. The staff at snowshoe have always been very nice. Like I said earlier, the internet is super fast.
I just love the funkiness of the Mountain Lodge, the staff is great and this condo is definitely a winner. We booked in advance to take advantage of very discount lift ticket rates, taking a risk with the weather and ended up with lot's of rain! Fortunately, my teenager was totally content playing games on his lap top (the internet is much faster than at home so it was still a vacation!). Despite the age of the Lodge, the condo's (at least this one) has been remodeled. Kitchen, bath, ton's of cabinets in the bedroom, carpet...all very nice. A few tips: don't forget to bring dish soap and dish towels (unless you are ok just with the dishwasher). Also, no long distance calling and no cell service so plan on using the wi-fi to face time if you need to check in back home. This condo faces the east (slope side) so the sunrise is amazing.
Really cheap at pre-season for 4 people. It's convenient to access the slope. We liked very much.
Great clean place with its own internet that is 10 times faster than the rest of mountain lodge.
This is one of the best VRBO experiences that I have ever had. The owner was fantastic to deal with and everything was as described or better. The condo itself was perfectly accomodating, but the people truly made the difference. Timothy was great! In addition the folks at Mountain Lodge were outstanding as well, which isnt always the case with a by owner rental. I will be back again. Thanks to all.
Last minute trip was amazing!! Prompt and pleasant communication. #188 is tucked in the far back end of Mountain Lodge which made for a nice quite stay. The view from the balcony was amazing. The proximity to the slopes is great, easy access to and from the slopes from the lodge. Walking distance from village (shops, food and starbucks 🙂 ), so I didn't have to move my car once. Staff and attendance were friendly. I've been coming to Snowshoe for a long time - this one will go on the list of place to use again!!! THANKS!!!! Highly recommend - pleanty of space for one or 4
My husband and I had a great stay at Mountain Lodge #188. The unit was well stocked with everything we needed to be comfortable. The kitchen had everything I needed to prepare a nice meal after a day on the slopes. Tim was great to work with and we look forward to booking with him again in the future.
Very nice location for all snowshoe ski trips. This condo was a few doors down from a children's play area. The building is quiet. The building wifi is usable in the condo, which is not the case at silvercreek. Private parking lot. Very friendly staff!
There is a ski out exit right at the ballhooter lift.
Owner has condo setup to assist with having children, ie. VHS children's and teen/adult themed movies.
Once again we had a Wonderful Experience at Snowshoe! Timothy is always very easy to deal with, very quick with his responses and answering any questions. The room is in excellent condition-very clean and lots of storage space with ALL the cabinets-which I LOVE!!!! We've stayed at other Mountain Lodge condos that didn't have near the cabinet/counter space. This is definitely our GO TO condo when we plan our yearly trip. The lodge improved their internet service-still spotty and you can get kicked off during high traffic times, but we like not having cell & internet-makes for a very relaxing stay in the condo and the perfect environment for family game/movie nights. Timothy is very effiecent in giving you all the information you could possibly want. Maps, directions, purchasing ticktets, etc. All around an excellent experience!
My husband and I took our two boys up to Snowshoe for a trip mid-week. The condo was absolutely what we needed. The ski-in/ski-out feature was the best. It was so nice to just walk out the doors and ski down a hill. To be located right beside BallHooter lift was perfect too. The resort was not crowded at all, so that added to our enjoyment as well. The condo was clean and well equipped. It had everything we needed! It was so nice to have a TV in the bedroom. The maintenance staff at the Lodge were super quick to fix any issues we had. (the balcony door was stuck) Tim was great to work with and we would definitely rent this condo again!
We had an excellent stay. The unit is well supplied with plenty of kitchen equipment. Great bed, and pull out sofa.
Our unit was the perfect size for two people. Towels are plentiful and plush. Climate control is easy to maintain with multiple thermostats throughout the unit. The flat screen, cable, and wireless internet made it possible to stay in contact with friends and family, and stay up to date on news events and weather.
We enjoyed our stay and look forward to going back.
We found the condo clean and the amenities as stated in the description. The building was convenient to the slopes. This unit was at the far end of the building, but near a door with easy access to the parking lot for loading/unloading. The furnishings could use some updating, especially the pull out sofa bed. If you're tall, watch your head on the TV in the bedroom! Wifi was spotty, as expected. Owner was great to work with, prompt, and very patient with this first time VRBO user. Parking & Check-in were super easy. We arrived while it was snowing, and Red Gate Road was pretty treacherous to navigate. We were part of a line of vehicles barely making it up the hill. The snow, however, resulted in GREAT skiing conditions!! We had a great time!
Neat older mountain lodge, kinda rustic. Cheapest I found that actually is on the slopes at one of the lifts. Next to Village where food, shopping etc...is typically on slope priced.
the snow was great while we were there. lucky. check the weather. roads were maintained for those of us not experts in winter mountain conditions.
hope to go again if the economy picks up for us all.
This condo is as stated in the description. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and fairly well maintained. Shower was clean and water was nice and hot. Although you are on the main level, it is a bit of a walk to the slopes, as the condo is at the far end of the building opposite slope entry way. There is an upside to that however, you don't have any of the grooming equipment keeping you awake all night. That was quite nice, unlike some other rooms in the Lodge slopeside. The room could use a little updating, such as pull out sofa and TV. The kids slept on the pull out one night, but ended up using a blow-up mattress we had brought for the rest of the time. I would not recommend to families of more than four or it's going to get pretty crowded. Overall we had a great time and would stay again. Snowboarding/ Skiing was great as usual, just very crowded. Stayed from 1/1-1/5. One other note. Don't count on getting on the internet while staying here. Wifi is spotty at best. Early morning is your best bet getting connected.
This unit is very clean and comfortable. We had everything we needed to enjoy our trip! Tim is personable and prompt when responding to questions, which something we value. We will definitely stay here in the future and would recommend to others.
My husband and I stayed at Mountain Lodge for a last minute birthday weekend. We actually booked on Thursday to be there the next day. It was smoothe sailing. The condo was perfect for the two of us. We actually slept great there which was very unusual. The help at the front desk wonderful. They gave us help on how to get from place to place with the least amount of exposure to the weather. I could go all the way to the other end of Mountain Lodge and go out that door, into the door of the next lodge, walk around to another door and be across the street from Starbuck's. It was great in the mornings! The food in the restaurants was fabulous. The Sunset Cantina had some of the best short ribs I have ever eaten. We never used our truck once we parked it in the private lot. We caught the shuttle bus every where. They were very knowledgeable as to where you wanted to go even if you didn't know yourself. We had a wonderful couple of relaxing days. We did a little tubing. Watched movies. Stared at the wonderful views off the balcony and window. It was breath taking. I would definitely go again.
Outstanding customer service is a understatement. I contacted Tim the afternoon of the night I was checking in and he was more than happy to accomadate on such short notice. The room was in great shape and the view was beautiful absolutely no complaints I can't wait to book with Tim again.
This place was good...very clean and conveniently located. Check In was easy. Kitchen had everything we needed! Had a great time and would stay in this unit again.
The accommodations provided made for a wonderful ski trip. We had access to everything we needed and were so thrilled that we booked a return trip a week later. Not only is the unit perfect for what we wanted, but Tim was great to deal with and the folks at the facility were so friendly and helpful. We will, without a doubt, book this property again next season.
After many trips to Snowshoe, this was our first time staying at Mountain Lodge. The ski in/ski out location is great. The condo was clean and in good condition and had everything we needed including a great view even though it is first floor (first floor is a plusas well as far as we are concerend-no elevator to ride). Will definitely stay here again.
Perfect for what we needed! A little cramped for four people but c'mon you can't beat the price! Tim was great. Followed through with everything he said. They even let us check in early. Room is at the end of the hotel.... Little bit of a walk but worth it not to hear anyone kicking snow off their boots. Use the door next to the play area! Much faster to parking lot. We will be back for sure.
My boyfriend and I really enjoyed staying at this nicely appointed little condo while at Snowshoe. Will definitely consider for our next trip!
Our trip was great! We were very impressed with the accommodations at Mountain Lodge. We were able to unpack our stuff and spread out within the condo. The snow conditions were absolutely wonderful-there was fresh powder each morning. The ski in ski out from Mountain Lodge is ideal-it is literally steps from the Ballhooter lift-there are not many centrally located ski in/ski out lodges where you literally put on/take off your skis at the door.
Tim was the best, most friendly helpful owner/manager I've ever dealt with on VRBO.
Overall, I think Snowshoe is AWESOME for eastern US snow skiing. It is the closest in size/scope/amount of fresh powder to the western resorts in Colorado, Utah, etc. Thank you again for the GREAT vacation!
Our trip was absolutely wonderful. We were very impressed with the accommodations at Mountain Lodg. The bedroom storage was awesome! We were able to unpack our stuff and spread out within the condo. The snow conditions were absolutely wonderful-there was fresh powder each morning. The ski in ski out from Mountain Lodge is ideal-it is literally steps from the Ballhooter lift-there are not many centrally located ski in/ski out lodges. Also, the location made it very easy to hop down to the village and enjoy dinner at Cheat Mountain Pizza and Foxfire Grill. A pleasant surprise was the Comedy Central located within the Mountain Lodge. For $10 admission (including tax), we were able to enjoy some live comedy without bearing the weather conditions. There is plenty of parking as well which makes it easy to park close to the entrance and take a 1 mile ride to Silver Creek for afternoon/evening skiing. The downside to the weekend we chose was the terrible crowds. During the weekend, the lift wait time was 30 minutes so after lunch, we moved to Silver Creek were there was NO lines, NO waiting even on the long holiday weekend. Tim was a great help to, he is very responsive and answered all my questons in record time. Another benefit of Mountain Lodge was the free Wifi. The phones do NOT work in Snowshoe-even ATT only works near Cup Run. But with the free Wifi I did receive my texts and emails and I was able to communicate with home and tell them easily when to call the condo's direct line. Overall, I think Snowshoe is AWESOME. I have been visiting the mountain yearly since 2003 and my husband has been visiting since 1990. We have traveled to all the NC ski resorts as well as Vail, Keystone, Beaver Creek, and Brekenridge and we still prefer Snowshoe Mountain to each of those locations. Thank you again for the GREAT vacation. We hope to visit again next year.
The location was excellent. The condo was clean. Although old, it was decent. The WIFI is horrible and there is limited cell service (verizon) Overall it was a good stay. I would do it again.
Tim Wolfe did a great job booking my stay.
Our first trip to Snowshoe was a great experience and we are all eager to return. Our room in Mountain Lodge was very conveniently located with just a short walk to the Village. Our room was just as described and Tim was very easy and pleasant to work with. We enjoyed trying all the restaurants in the Village and hard to say which was our favorite. Every worker we approached throughout the resort were very friendly and accommodating! Overall a fantastic experience! We look forward to coming back again!
Overall very satisfied. There was a small stain on the sheets of the main bed which appeared to be blood and therefore was a little gross since we found it after the first night we slept there. But it wasn't gross enough to make a significant negative impact on the overall stay.
If you are going to Snowshoe you have to consider staying here! The condo exceeded all expectations from the owner (Tim) who provided excellent communication and details to the Mountain Lodge resort property and staff. The condo was very clean, comfortable, and convenient. Walk right down the hall and get your skis out of storage and the ballhooter lift (access to green, blue, and black diamiond slopes) is right there! Walk about two hundred yards and you are in the middle of the village with access to several places to eat (highly reccomend the Junction) and even a Starbucks. Can't wait to go back...thanks Tim for all your help!
I wanted to share just a few things that might be helpful to future renters. We had a nice time, and the front desk folks at the Mountain Lodge were welcoming when we go there, the housekeeping staff really sweet, the location good, and the room was nice. ~ There is no Wifi for the most part there. For sure, there is none in the room. There is only ATT at a couple remote corners of the entire lodge.~ There is no garbage disposal. This may have some influence on food that is prepared/packed. It would be a good thing to know this in advance. I brought all kinds of veggies and salad fixings. I would have pre-cut and peeled things had I known. ~There are no kitchen linens, so folks should bring their own dishtowels. There is only one dishrag, and a very small bar rag, definitely not adequate. ~ With check out at 11, it is mentioned that there is a fireplace at the Lodge and locations around for waiting as you go in and out of the slopes. This is true, but they really don't heat the Lodge and it is not a comfortable place to just hang out during the day. We had asked for them to turn on the fireplace and they shared that they don't have it on during the day. They didn't have it on Monday evening, either, so we weren't sure when they actually put it on. They have a tv/"theatre", of sorts, area, but it was off the entire time, and they were not willing to put it on for guests.
~ The heat in the room is quite strange. It would have been good for us to know that the room can get exceedingly hot with no way to control it, and even swing to the other extreme. The first night and most of the next day, it was incredibly hot, well into the 80s. We had all the controls turned way down and it did not change the temperature. But woke up today to a freezing room, again, without any ability to alter the temperature. There are two large box fans, and one small desk fan, so it is likely this is known, but had we known this, I would have packed light clothing to both hang around the room in, and also, to sleep in. We did not have any light clothing and were pretty uncomfortable that first night.
~The restaurant downstairs at the Lodge is not usually open. This was a bit of a disappointment. ~The work out "facility" or "room" is not really that, but three pieces of excercise equipment available in the middle of the hallway with a climbing thing for children.
Just as a suggestion, too, it might be nice to have soup bowls in the kitchen. I made a big pot of homemade soup and c
Love the room, especially the kitchen, will definitely come back again~
The mountain lodge was great place to stay. guest services were there daily for cleaning and linen changes. Check in was very quick and had absolutly no problems with the lodge at all. By far one of the best places i have been on the mountain. A must visit!!
No problems. Nice unit and convenient proximity to all the mountain functions that we participate in. Hope to use again! Thanks so much.
The day we arrived was a scorcher, especially for Snowshoe. This property does not have AC, but a few minutes with fans cooled it down to tollerance. It was a clean place with plenty of space. It was also nice and quiet, which was nice. I am sure it livens up in the winter. I was a little bummed that we had to pay to go to the split rock pool, but otherwise a good time was had by all. I would stay here again.
